The Effective date for the 2020 Florida Building Code (7th Edition), is 12:00 AM, December 31, 2020. All plans and applications submitted after 11:59 PM of the 30th must comply with the 2020 Codes.

Inspection Services hours are 7:30 am until 4:30 pm. The permit counter is open to walk-in customers from 7:30 am until 12:30 pm. Inspectors are available to meet in the office between 7:30 and 8: and typically between 2:30 and 3:30 on most days depending on work load. if you need to meet with the Building Official or Inspections Supervisor/Plans Examiner, you may do so at any time during the day.
If the permit requires plan review, original pdf files must be uploaded into the system during the upload portion of the application process. Paper plans are no longer being accepted as of April 1, 2020.
All documents such as NOCs should be uploaded into the permit application through the portal.
All documents that are required as part of the application and permit must be uploaded. Paper documents will not be accepted except for owner-builder forms.
All sub permits associated with a project for Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Gas, Roofing and Fire systems must be submitted online as an Add-to existing permit.
Contractor registration, new or renewal, must be a complete package submitted through the application portal or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Permits are valid for 180 days from the date of issuance. Each Inspection conducted also extends the permit out 180 days from the date of inspection. Inactivity or abandonment will cause the permit to expire and renewal is by repayment of the fees. Permit extension requests must be submitted by email to email@example.com prior to expiration of the permit.
Inspections for mygovernmentonline.org permits will need to be scheduled either online through the customer portal, or via telephone using the IVR system by dialing (866)957-3764 and choose option 5.

For scheduling inspections for permits issued prior to November 5, 2019 please call (850)436-5600. Inspections for permits issued in MyGovernmentOnline, must be scheduled online by logging in with the user account at MyGovernmentOnline.org. Inspections cannot be scheduled by email any longer.

In order to attempt to provide better customer service for walk-in customers, and allow staff adequate time to complete online permits, Inspection Services will be changing our walk-in hours for permitting. The office will close to the public at 12:30 PM each day, effective February 3, 2020. The new walk-in hours for Inspection Services will be 7:30-12:30.
