Captain James C. Reese Jr. was born in Pensacola and graduated from Escambia High School in 1988. Upon graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he served for four years active service and four years reserve duty.
Captain Reese has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia Southern University. He also is a graduate of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Leadership Academy Class 33, and the FBI-LEEDA Supervisor Leadership Institute.
He was hired as a cadet by the Pensacola Police Department in 1999, promoted to police officer in 2001, promoted to sergeant in 2013, promoted to lieutenant in 2017, and to captain in 2020. Among his assignments have been the Uniform Patrol Division, field training officer/sergeant/ lieutenant, Criminal Investigations Division, and Neighborhood Services Division.
Captain Reese is married and has two children. He is a member of Hurst Chapel AME Church where he serves as Pro Tem of the Steward Board.
