Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design

Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), is a multi-disciplinary approach of crime prevention which uses environmental, architectural and mechanical management of a location. CPTED strategies are aimed to reduce victimization, deter offender decision that proceed criminal acts and build a sense of community among people, so they can gain territorial control of an area. This community control is will help reduce crime and minimize the fear of crime.

The Pensacola Police Department has several officers who have trained to offer advice on how to integrate the principles of CPTED into  your home or business.
