Tree Regulations

In 2000 the City of Pensacola adopted ordinances to protect and preserve trees. Trees preserve the ecological balance of the environment, control erosion, sedimentation and stormwater runoff, provide shade and reduce heat and glare, abate noise pollution and buffer incompatible land uses. It is critical that a balance be maintained between developed areas and natural/landscaped areas with appropriate existing or newly planted trees and other vegetation. We need to provide for the future of our citizens through maintaining vital vegetative species that will reproduce for future generations.

Instances may arise where you want or need a tree on your property removed or trimmed. The City has developed simple procedures to ensure proper removal and that protected trees are preserved.
