Marcus Knight (25) was arrested on May 31, 2019 for the murder of his grandfather, James Howard Royster (66). Royster was found deceased in his residence at 1035 E Lee St on the morning of May 8, 2019. Royster was beaten to death with an unknown object. Suspect Knight had lived at the residence, but was being kicked out at the time of the incident. Knight was developed as a suspect in the murder early on in the investigation, but initially Probable Cause was insufficient. Knight was, however, arrested on a theft charge and has remained in jail on that charge since the murder. Probable Cause for the murder was established after three weeks of investigation. Knight remains in the Escambia County jail with no bond.
