The Pensacola Police Department will be conducting a Comprehensive Roadside Safety Checkpoint on Friday, August 27, 2021, during the evening hours. The checkpoint will be in the area of 9th Avenue at Fairfield Drive. The Pensacola Police Department is the lead agency on this traffic safety initiative, but has partnered with the Florida Highway Patrol, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Gulf Breeze Police Department, and the University of West Florida Police Department. This checkpoint is aimed to make our roadways safer by removing impaired drivers from our roads. The checkpoint coincides with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Florida Department of Transportation campaign: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over. The entire safety campaign will run from August 20th to September 6th and is being supported by the Pensacola Police Department’s D.U.I. Unit and additional grant shifts for high visibility enforcement.
The Pensacola Police Department encourages you to use a designated driver if you drink. There is zero tolerance for impaired drivers on Pensacola roadways.
