A Pensacola woman has died from injuries she received in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning.
According to Officer Ronald Boutin the woman - Samantha Viola, 30 - was driving a blue 2004 Kia Spectra northbound on North Palafox Street when she failed to negotiate the turn at Jackson Street. The car left the road and struck a tree. Viola was not wearing a seatbelt.
Around 3:20 a.m. Saturday, Officers Trevor Mayo and Zachary Stacy were patrolling the area and found the vehicle with Viola inside. They broke the driver’s side window, forced open the locked door, pulled her out, and started CPR. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment and died Saturday afternoon, Boutin said.
The crash remains under investigation.
