A man who taught defensive tactics, gun laws and basic policing principles to many law enforcement officers has retired.
Officer Greg Robichaud retired Monday (Dec. 26) after 26 years with the Pensacola Police Department.
Robichaud was hired by the Pensacola Police Department on January 2, 1990 as a police officer. Among his assignments were Uniform Patrol, Special Community Action Team (SCAT), Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), and Training.
Robichaud spent the past 16 years in the Training section where he was a training officer. In that capacity, he was responsible for teaching officers defensive tactics, driving and shooting skills among other duties. During his career, he assisted with writing basic recruit curriculum, use of force and gun laws for the state of Florida.
He also taught public gun safety education classes and was the department’s armorer. For many years, Robichaud has been an instructor at the George Stone Technical Center where he trained prospective officers in the police academy. He will continue teaching at George Stone in retirement.
