Pensacola Police are
investigating an incident that occurred early this morning after a recklessdriver fled from police, crashed the vehicle into a power pole and left the
scene.
The incident began around 12:05a.m. when Sgt. Erik Goss saw a reckless driver speeding westbound in the area
of Pace Boulevard and Gadsden Street. The driver refused to stop for Goss andwhen the suspect began running stop signs, Goss did not pursue him and reported
the direction of travel over his police radio.
Officer Patrick Kelly saw thesuspect’s vehicle near W and Gadsden streets and activated his blue lights as
the vehicle sped past him. Kelly deactivated his emergency lights and did notpursue the vehicle.
The driver lost control of the
vehicle while fleeing from officers, crashed into a power pole and a parkedtruck in the 3000 block of West Gadsden Street. The driver then fled the scene
on foot.
The vehicle was a 2007 grayfour-door Honda Accord.
