A joint investigation by the Pensacola Police Department and the Florida Department of Children and Families has determined no charges will be filed against a woman who was recorded on a camera phone spanking a child with a paddle in a parking lot.
The incident was reported to police on May 8 when a woman came to the Pensacola Police Department and said she had seen a woman use a wooden paddle on a 10-year-old male in the parking lot of a local business. The complainant said the woman had struck the child twice and that one of the strikes looked like it hit his lower back area.
The complainant began recording the incident on her cell phone and posted the video on social media. The complainant said the woman saw her strike the child both times.
Investigators determined there was no criminal wrongdoing; therefore, no charges will be filed.
