Pensacola Named One of the 20 Best Places to Live in Florida

The online magazine Money Inc. deemed Pensacola to be among the best places to live in Florida. Pensacola cracked the top 10 places to live thanks to our our diverse origin and innovative future.

"The town of Pensacola has a rich and varied history. While the history of the town is rife wherever you look, it’s also as 21st century as you could want, with just as many shopping malls, cutting edge restaurants, and buzzing nightclubs as there are museums, walking tours, and gorgeously quaint buildings."

Pensacola on its Way to Becoming a Florida Paddling Trails Blueway Community

The City of Pensacola took the next step toward becoming a Florida Paddling Trails Blueway Community with a proclamation designating Pensacola as a Florida Paddling Trails Blueway Community, part of a program that helps communities develop locations of interest to both in-state paddlers and out-of-state tourists.

Florida's climate, natural surroundings, and vast navigable waterways make our state an ideal destination. The state of Florida has over 50 designated paddling trails on various rivers and streams as well as the 1,515 mile Florida Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail. Recreation enthusiasts seek nature-based tourism destinations, resulting in local economic stimulus and increased public awareness of natural Florida.??

City, Blue Wahoos to Expand Protective Netting at Wahoos Stadium

The City of Pensacola and Pensacola Blue Wahoos have partnered to expand the protective netting at Blue Wahoos Stadium, increasing safety for fans and employees as concerns about the dangers of foul balls increase throughout Minor League Baseball.

The protective netting will now run the entire length of both baselines at the stadium, which will protect fans in the stands while they are enjoying the game.

The City of Pensacola is paying for the cost of the netting, and the Blue Wahoos are executing the contract and installing the nets. The additional netting is expected to be installed by opening day for the 2020 season, which is Thursday, April 9.

This season, all 30 Major League Baseball teams are extending netting at their respective stadiums. In addition, the Blue Wahoos join 18 Minor League teams who have announced they will extend their netting prior to Opening Day 2020.
