Hitzman-Optimist Park Improvements Project Set to Begin Oct. 26
Construction of the City of Pensacola Hitzman-Optimist Park Improvements Project is expected to begin Monday, Oct. 26. This project includes athletic fields, a walking trail, parking, restrooms, concession and stormwater facilities.
Construction is expected to be completed by spring 2021, weather permitting, with construction of the athletic fields expected to be completed in February 2021. A city construction inspector will be monitoring the project progress daily.
Areas of the park that are under construction will be closed while the upgrades are completed. The playground, restrooms, disc golf course and original parking lot will remain open during construction.
The City of Pensacola awarded a contract to Panhandle Grading and Paving Inc. of Pensacola to complete the Hitzman-Optimist Park Improvements Project.
For questions about this project, please contact City of Pensacola Capital Improvement Projects Manager David Forte at 850-435-1696.
The Langley Avenue Roundabout Project, which will also serve as the new entrance and exit to Hitzman-Optimist Park, is currently under construction and is expected to be completed by mid-November.
Hitzman-Optimist Park is located at 3221 Langley Ave. For more information about the park, visit the City of Pensacola's website.
