Parent University Pensacola Kicks Off Oct. 30
Parent University is a community collaborative that supports families with services, resources and educational opportunities for parents. In partnership with Escambia County and the City of Pensacola, program sessions will be ongoing with the intent to engage and help families learn more about the services and resources available to encourage parent involvement and participation in the education of Pensacola and Escambia County children and youth.
Parents will work alongside community partners to gain support with classes and course materials. Active participation, input and collaboration is highly encouraged.
Parent University was founded by Executive Director Michael O'Neal. The initiative began in Savannah, Ga. and is expanding to Pensacola under the coordination of Escambia County District 3 Commissioner Lumon May, Parent University Savannah Board Member Dr. Kim McQueen and the City of Pensacola Neighborhoods Administration under the direction of Mayor Grover Robinson. As a department within the Mayor's Office, the Neighborhoods Administration serves as the liaison between the City of Pensacola, non-profit agencies, neighborhood groups and community stakeholders who recommend and develop community programs that improve the quality of life of Pensacola families.
