City of Pensacola Staff, Mayor Team up for United Way Day of Caring



Nearly 60 City of Pensacola employees and Mayor Grover Robinson joined volunteers throughout the community to support United Way Day of Caring on Friday, Feb. 25, an annual community service effort coordinated by United Way of West Florida.

City employees worked on a variety of projects to support several local nonprofit organizations, including Bright Bridge Ministries, Currie House Youth Shelter, Manna Food Pantries, Ronald McDonald House and United Ministries of Pensacola. Employees from more than 10 City of Pensacola departments volunteered during Day of Caring.

East Garden District - Jefferson Street Revitalization Project Ribbon Cutting 


On Tuesday, Feb. 15, the City of Pensacola held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate complete street improvements to Jefferson Street as part of the East Garden District Project.

Improvements to Jefferson Street included wider sidewalks with pavers, landscaping, the undergrounding of power, new utilities and drainage, road lane narrowing, road resurfacing, safety upgrades and more.

Pensacola Youth Council Visits Tallahassee, Meets with Senator and Representatives


Over Presidents Day weekend, the Pensacola Youth Council visited Tallahassee to tour the Capitol and meet with Sen. Doug Broxson, Rep. Alex Andrade and Rep. Michelle Salzman. Students also visited Florida State University and toured the Black Archives at Florida A&M University. Booker T. Washington graduate and FAMU basketball star MJ Randolph met with the Youth Council and spoke about his transition from high school to college and experience at FAMU.

Through the Pensacola Youth Council, these students are gaining valuable knowledge and experience in state and local government.

February 2022 Mayor's Neighborhood Cleanup Results

Neighborhood cleanup truck picks up bulk waste

The February Mayor's Neighborhood Cleanup collected over 60 tons (121,270 pounds) of bulk waste, along with 119 tires and 1,872 gallons of paint. The cleanup took place on Saturday, Feb. 26 with 27 loads picked up from the East Pensacola Heights area and portions of surrounding neighborhoods.

City of Pensacola Sanitation Offers Premium Collection Service to Residents


City of Pensacola Sanitation Services is offers Premium Collection Service to customers for an additional fee each month, which provides enhanced recycling and garbage collection services to make the process easier than ever for residents. 

Premium Collection Service is an additional $20 per month and includes the following services:
  • Retrieval of recycling and garbage carts from the resident's desired location
  • Returning recycling and garbage carts to their original location

Improvements to Cecil T. Hunter Pool


The City of Pensacola began improvements to the Cecil T. Hunter Pool in February, with project completion expected by late 2022. The pool will remain open during the 2022 swimming season, which runs Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Improvements to the Cecil T. Hunter Pool include:
  • Replacing the main pool facility, including new restrooms, showers, changing spaces and offices.
  • Improved access from the parking area and along Blount Street.
  • A new concrete pool deck on the southern corner of the pool.
