Final Blues in the City features Fat Albert
The City of Pensacola and the Blue Angels Association will host the final Blues in the City forum in anticipation of the end of the season airshow.
The theme for the forum is Fat Albert. The public is invited to get up close and personal, ask questions, and get to know the members of the Navy's elite flight demonstration squadron
The U.S. Marine Corps C-130 “Fat Albert” joined the team in 1970 as the support aircraft. In addition to being the opening attraction for the Blue Angels demonstration, Fat Albert’s primary mission is to transport 35,000 pounds of cargo and roughly 45 Blue Angels team members to every show site throughout the country.
This forum will feature two of the three pilots from Fat Albert, Major Mark Hamilton and Captain Katie Higgins. Major Hamilton is a native of Becker, Minnesota, and graduated from Becker High School in 1996. He attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2000. Captain Katie Higgins is a native of Severna Park, Maryland, and graduated from W.T. Woodson High School in 2004. She attended the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science in 2008 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. Katie then attended Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., and graduated with a Masters of Arts in International Security in 2009.
