City to close recycling drop-off sites

The city is in the process of closing the Summit and McAllister recycling drop-off sites due to the amount of illegal dumping that continues to occur at the sites. These sites will be closed to the public today, September 15, 2017.  Access to the sites will be barricaded and no dumping signs will be installed. Citizens wishing to recycle are advised to use their residential roll-out recycling cart at their home. As an alternative, citizens can continue take recyclables to one of the county recycling drop-off sites, locations of which can be found on the Escambia County website. The below pictures of the Summit site illustrate the illegal dumping problem that has beleaguered the site in recent months.
