Leadership Pensacola announces 2018 class project

LeaP into Fitness seeks to encourage activity and promote community wellness.

The Greater Pensacola Chamber Foundation's Leadership Pensacola (LeaP) Class of 2018 is proud to announce, LeaP into Fitness, a project in partnership with the City of Pensacola and the National Fitness Campaign (NFC), that will provide fitness courts to the Pensacola area.

The NFC Fitness Courts™ offer a free, outdoor, bodyweight fitness program designed for all levels. Three courts will be installed at Bayview Park, Legion Field, and Vince J. Whibbs Sr. Community Maritime Park. The construction of the courts will be made possible through sponsorships and donations. This project will enhance local public spaces, encourage activity, and promote community wellness throughout Pensacola.

NFC has partnered with over 4,000 cities to build fitness courts and Pensacola is next on the list. These 34.5’x32’ courts are a seven-station, bodyweight fitness circuit, and health training system. Each fitness court features 30 individual pieces of equipment, a shock-resistant sports flooring, and is comprised of exercise stations that allow for up to 28 individuals to use the court at the same time. The courts offer hundreds of routines intended to support fitness training for a variety of age groups and intensity levels. Each piece of equipment allows users to leverage their body-weight at different angles and levels of resistance as a tool to improve over time. Beginners will feel just as comfortable as expert athletes when they experience the flexibility and power of the system.

A free NFC mobile app also makes it easy for users to customize workouts through videos of personal trainers. These videos feature personal trainers that detail the movements to its 7, 14, and 21-minute workouts, and allows users to select music from their own playlist. This app is only available in the App Store for iOS devices.

The LeaP into Fitness grand opening will be held on April 27th, 2018 at Vince J. Whibbs Sr. Community Maritime Park. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will unveil the first NFC Fitness Court built in Pensacola. This event will also feature informational trial sessions and free workout demonstrations. More information on this event will be available soon!
