5-2-1-0 Northwest Florida Day of Play is Coming Up September 29th

The City of Pensacola Parks and Recreation Department has teamed up with the Florida Department of Health in Escambia County and their 5-2-1-0 Escambia program to host the 5-2-1-0 Northwest Florida Day of Play on Saturday, September 29th from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Community Maritime Park.

Residents and visitors in Northwest Florida are invited to experience a variety of activities and learn more about ways that families and individuals can live a healthier and more active lifestyle. Over 40 wellness-focused businesses and organizations have already committed to be on site that day with activities and information encouraging health, wellness and play for all ages.

The event is sponsored and by 5-2-1-0 Escambia, a local effort of Florida Department of Health’s Healthiest Weight Florida initiative. The 5-2-1-0 Program encourages individuals and families to adopt four lifestyle habits associated with achieving and maintaining a healthy weight, thereby reducing their risks for chronic diseases:

• Consume 5 or more fruits and vegetables each day,
• Limit daily screen time to 2 hours,
• Play or be active for at least 1 hour each day, and
• Consume 0 sugary drinks.

There will be lots of giveaways, demonstrations, and interactive games plus free bicycle helmet distribution, tennis, and golf.

Little daredevils can channel their inner warrior and try the mobile ninja-style obstacle course from Ninja Life.

New and expecting parents will want to make sure they visit the Escambia County Healthy Start Coalition's Healthy Start Row for information and activities for new moms and dads.

And kids can get a feel for the great outdoors at the archery range and fishing clinics in the Combined Insurance Services, Inc. Outdoor Adventure Area.

The 5-2-1-0 Northwest Florida Day of Play is free and open to the public. Food vendors will be available, including a local farmer with produce.

Additional sponsors include Natural Awakenings Magazine, Fish Florida, Ninja Life, Nemours Children’s Specialty Clinic, My Pensacola Credit Union, Pensacola Kids Dentistry, Pensacola With Kids, Pet Emergency Education, The Hansen Real Estate Team, Mathnasium Pensacola, and the All of Us Research Program.
